LVSGC Overview

Los Verdes Seniors Golf Club:  eligibility for membership requires that you must be at least 50 years old, have an established USGA/SCGA handicap index, and have a way to keep it current (i.e., belong to a golf club or organization such as South Bay Public Links).  The Los Verdes Seniors play tournaments at the Los Verdes Golf Course on the 1st, 3rd, and 5th Thursdays of each month, with the first tee time at 9:10 a.m.  

If you meet the eligibility requirements and are interested in joining the Los Verdes Seniors, mail a completed Application to the Los Verdes Seniors Membership Director (see below).  All new prospective members must submit a membership application and be accepted in order to participate in Los Verdes Seniors tournament play.  Annual dues are $20 and are due by December 31st for the following year.  

Upon becoming a member, you may sign up for the next tournaments by completing the Sign-Up Sheet under the Tournament banner.  The website opens for the Next Tournament sign-up at 7 PM on the Thursday before the current tournament. Please include your GHIN, current handicap for Los Verdes Golf Course, your preference to ride or walk, and your preference for an early or late tee time.

Seventy-two members will play at any given tournament. Tournament directors will email the membership a list of those who will be included in the next tournament and those on the waitlist, usually on Friday before a tournament.  Cancellations can be made via email/text/phone. Emails should be sent to  lvsgolfclub@gmail.com. Text and phone calls should only be used in emergency situations. Cancellations made after noon on Monday prior to the tournament will result in a $20 late cancellation fee.

At 7 PM on Tuesday prior to the tournament, the tournament Director will post the Teams/Times Roster, with handicaps that were verified in the GHIN on Monday, and send out an e-mail to the membership notifying the players of their Teams/Tee Times, on tournament day Thursday.  Members must check in at the Tournament desk at Los Verdes Golf Course at least 30 minutes before their Tee Time. Each player pays $5 to the team lead to be used for the fund for Low Net and Closest to the Pin payouts. The team lead pays $20 to the tournament director and receives an official scorecard for the team.

There are three tournament formats that we currently use for tournaments:

1.     Team Competition: = Team score will be the sum of the three lowest net scores by hole. Awards are given to the five teams with the lowest scores

2.     Individual Low Net: - Awards are given to five individuals with the lowest net score in each flight.                

3.     Closest to the Pin: - Awards are given to one individual in each flight for being closest to the pin on their second shot.  Specific holes will be designated for each flight.
